Terms of Service

The Writers Share is an online educational course teaching the business of music publishing: copyright, royalties, registration, licensing, and catalog management. The service includes video lessons, written modules, templates, checklists, community access, and periodic content updates as described on the pricing page for your plan.

• You must be at least 16 years old (or the age of digital consent where you live) to create an account
• You are responsible for your login credentials and all activity under your account
• Account information must be accurate and kept current
• One account per person; accounts are personal and non-transferable
• Label & Teams plans may register up to the number of seats purchased; each seat is one named individual

Pro and Label & Teams are subscriptions, billed monthly or annually depending on the plan you choose. Your subscription automatically renews at the end of each billing period until you cancel. You can cancel anytime from your account settings or by emailing us; cancelling stops future renewals but you keep access through the end of the period you already paid for.

Label & Teams plans include a set number of seats billed with the base subscription; additional seats are billed per seat, per billing period, at the rate shown on the pricing page, prorated for the remainder of your current cycle.

Prices are listed in U.S. dollars and may change from time to time. If we change the price of your plan, we will give you at least 30 days' notice before the new price takes effect on your next renewal; continuing your subscription after that date means you accept the new price. Applicable sales tax or VAT is calculated at checkout based on your location. Payment is processed by our third-party payment providers, whose terms also apply to the transaction. The free Starter plan may display advertising from third-party ad networks.

You may cancel any paid subscription at any time, effective at the end of the current billing period — no future charges will apply, and you retain full plan access through the period you already paid for. Because paid plans deliver the complete digital course content immediately upon upgrade, subscription payments are final and non-refundable once processed, except for billing errors or where applicable consumer law provides otherwise. The free Starter plan lets you evaluate the full platform before paying. Full details are in our Refund & Cancellation Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms.

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access and use the course content and templates for your own education and your own music business. You may use our contract and split-sheet templates in your real transactions — that's what they're for.

You may not:

• Share, resell, sublicense, or publicly post course content or your login
• Copy the curriculum to create a competing course or product
• Remove copyright notices or claim our materials as your own
• Use automated tools to scrape or bulk-download content

All content, trademarks, and materials remain the property of The Writers Share and its licensors. Violation of this section terminates your license immediately.

Important: The Writers Share provides educational information about the music business. It is not legal, tax, accounting, or investment advice, and no attorney-client or advisory relationship is created by your purchase. Royalty rates, society rules, and laws change, and your situation is specific to you. Always consult a qualified music attorney or tax professional before signing contracts or making significant financial decisions. Earnings examples in the course are illustrations, not promises — your results depend on your catalog, effort, and market factors we don't control.

The dashboard lets you list yourself in an opt-in collaborator directory, add other members to your split sheets, share a split sheet with another member to sign, and (on Label plans) invite teammates to a seat. By using these features you agree that:

• You are responsible for the accuracy of the identity information you enter or list — names, PRO affiliations, IPI/CAE numbers, publisher details, and ownership percentages — and for having the right to share it
• Listing yourself in the directory is optional and can be switched off at any time in your Profile; while listed, the fields described in our Privacy Policy are visible to other signed-in members
• You will not scrape, harvest, or bulk-collect other members' directory information, or use it to send spam or unsolicited solicitations
• Only share a split sheet with people entitled to see it; the owner controls who a sheet is shared with and can stop sharing it

E-signatures are a convenience record. When you or a collaborator sign a split sheet on the platform, we capture a typed name and timestamp as a record of intent. This is a documentation aid — it is not legal, notarial, or professional advice, we are not a party to your agreement, and we do not guarantee that any signature or split sheet is legally binding or enforceable in your jurisdiction. Consult a qualified music attorney for agreements that matter, as noted below.

• Be respectful; no harassment, hate speech, or personal attacks
• No spam, self-promotion floods, or pyramid/recruiting schemes
• Don't share other members' private information or business details
• No uploading of infringing, unlawful, or malicious content
• We may remove content or suspend community access for violations, with or without notice

The service is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that content is complete or current at all times.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising from these Terms or the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months before the claim arose. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost royalties, or lost business opportunities. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limitations, so they may not fully apply to you.

You may close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms; if we terminate your paid account without cause, we will refund a prorated portion of your most recent purchase. Sections 5–8 and 10 survive termination.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Before filing any claim, you agree to contact us at support@thewritersshare.com and attempt informal resolution for 30 days. Disputes that cannot be resolved informally will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you consent to their jurisdiction. Either party may bring qualifying claims in small claims court instead.

We may update these Terms; material changes will be announced by email or site notice at least 14 days in advance. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
